The first law firm combination of the New Year belongs to RK Adler, a New York-based boutique founded in 2009 by two former Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom associates that on Wednesday was absorbed into legal giant Dentons.

Dentons will eventually bring on up to six lawyers from RK Adler, including founding partners Randolph Adler Jr. and Michael Chung, both of whom worked together at Skadden until they were let go five years ago in the mass purge of associates by Am Law 200 firms coping with the fallout of the economic downturn.
