Retired Judge Wins Lawsuit Over Back Pay

Grant County, Ind., must pay retired judge Thomas Hunt $5,000 in back pay after a judge ruled officials illegally reduced his salary. Hunt sued the county council, commissioners and auditor, saying they cut his salary despite the state constitution stating that a circuit judge's pay cannot be reduced while he is in office. Council President Mike Scott says officials likely will appeal. "It's unfortunate we're even in this situation in the first place, but that's the kind of society we live in," he says.
