DuPont will not face criminal charges arising from allegations that it hid information about a toxic chemical used to make the nonstick coating Teflon, the company has announced. In 2005, DuPont agreed to pay $10.5 million in fines and $6.25 million for environmental projects to settle EPA allegations that the company violated federal law by withholding information about the potential health risks posed by perfluorooctanoic acid, and about the pollution of water supplies around a West Virginia plant.

DuPont Co. will not face criminal charges arising from allegations that it hid information about a toxic chemical used to make the nonstick coating Teflon, the company said Monday.
DuPont said it was informed Friday that the Justice Department had finished its review of information obtained in a May 2005 grand jury subpoena from the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
