A consumer watchdog group is seeking to open the secret settlement paid to the New Jersey girl whose paralysis in a crash with a drunken Giants football fan brought attention to the evils of binge drinking at sporting events.

Public Citizen of Washington, D.C., argues in court papers, filed Thursday in New Jersey’s Bergen County, that the public’s right of access to the courts is being violated by a sealing order covering 10-year-old Antonia Verni’s settlement and legal fees.
