The 5th Circuit has rejected a second appeal from New Orleans District Attorney Eddie Jordan, which sought a full-court review of a ruling that he violated the civil rights of dozens of white employees when he fired them and replaced them with black workers after taking office in 2003. A 5th Circuit panel had earlier upheld the verdict against Jordan, which with interest amounts to about $3.5 million that Jordan's office will have to pay to the former workers and their lawyers.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has rejected a second appeal from New Orleans District Attorney Eddie Jordan over a ruling that he violated the civil rights of dozens of white employees when he fired them and replaced them with black workers after taking office in 2003.
The 5th Circuit late Wednesday turned aside a request by Jordan for a full-court review of the case.
