Stephen Gerard says he’s the stubborn type.

That may explain why he’s spent more than two years trying to get American Airlines to pay him $2,800 for a lost suitcase. He won the latest skirmish last month when a Superior Court judge in Stamford, Conn., rejected two motions by American, one to dismiss the case and the other for partial summary judgment.
