Genarlow Wilson, who was convicted of aggravated child molestation for having oral sex with a 15-year-old girl when he was 17, is not eligible for release on bail while seeking to undo a 10-year prison sentence, a judge ruled Wednesday.

The order issued by Douglas County, Ga., Superior Court Judge David T. Emerson relies on a Georgia statute that says persons convicted of certain serious crimes such as murder, rape and aggravated child molestation are not eligible for bond while an appeal is pending.
