When Frank Finch Jr. graduated from Harvard in 1959, many of his classmates bolted for glamorous jobs on Wall Street. But Finch nestled into an associate's position at relatively tiny Howd & Lavieri in Winsted, Conn. Nearly a half century later, Finch still happily practices at what is now Howd, Lavieri & Finch. He says going to Connecticut upon earning his law degree gave him a jump-start over his classmates who went to bigger markets in that he had an "immediate opportunity to interface with clients."
