Acting Supreme Court Justice Alan L. Honorof of Nassau County, N.Y., has been admonished by the state Commission on Judicial Conduct for failing to pay $21,000 of a settlement he entered into before he joined the bench.

The commission decided 8-1 in an opinion released Wednesday that Honorof “violated the high ethical standards required of judges, both on and off the bench” during a long-standing disagreement over payments to men the judge once represented as a practicing attorney.
