On March 20, the nine justices of the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Perry Homes, et al. v. Cull, an atypical appeal that involves a company owned by one of Texas’ largest GOP campaign contributors and most outspoken tort-reform advocates.

Perry Homes, one of the defendants in the appeal, is owned by Bob Perry, an influential Houston Republican who has given millions of dollars to GOP candidates and tort-reform organizations. Justices on the state Supreme Court have been among the beneficiaries of Perry’s campaign contributions.
