Already embroiled in a legal feud with one of its largest shareholders, Openwave Systems Inc. is facing new lawsuits over allegations the communications software company misled stockholders.

Disclosed Wednesday, the suits could signal a rise in legal action on behalf of shareholders related to the practice of backdating stock option grants. Redwood City, Calif.-based Openwave is one of more than 100 public companies under scrutiny.
