Bills that would repeal a Michigan law making it harder to sue for damages from side effects of medication have passed a committee and been sent to the full state House. Committee witnesses included one who claims Vioxx led to her stroke and another who said prescription drugs may have saved her life. One supporter of the current law said repeal would "open the floodgates" to lawsuits and allow "bloodsucking ambulance chasers" to attack laws protecting other industries against frivolous claims.
