Blogger and self-described “gossip gangsta” Perez Hilton is waving the fair use flag after being slapped with a $7.6 million federal copyright infringement suit on Nov. 30 by Los Angeles-based photo agency X17.

The suit alleges 51 acts of infringement, pertaining to photos that X17 claims Hilton poached and posted on his popular celebrity-centric Web site, PerezHilton.com. Hilton’s modus operandi is to make comments and drawings on tabloid-style photographs of celebrities.
