A Canadian couple whose 10-month old daughter died after choking on a rice cookie is suing the Shoppers Drug Mart chain and a distributor, saying consumers should have been warned the product was inherently dangerous to children of that age. The plaintiffs contend the girl went into cardio-respiratory arrest after a cookie lodged in her throat. The product labeling has since been changed to say the cookies should be given to children who are at least one year old and supervised while eating.
