Disbarred lawyer Robert F. “Bobby” Simone has moved one big step closer to winning his law license back now that a unanimous three-member committee of the Disciplinary Board has concluded that he deserves to be reinstated because he is “remorseful and contrite” for the conduct that led to his racketeering and tax-evasion convictions, and that his crimes were not “so egregious” that reinstatement is out of the question.

“Without trivializing the seriousness of the crimes of which Mr. Simone was convicted, the hearing committee concludes that his misconduct … is not more egregious than misconduct in other matters found by our Supreme Court not to be so deplorable as to preclude reinstatement to the bar,” the committee wrote.
