The Federal Communications Commission on Friday approved AT&T Inc.’s $80 billion acquisition of BellSouth Corp., one day after the acquiring company agreed to a series of conditions on the merger.

“The merged AT&T/BellSouth promises to offer consumers a wider array of IP-enabled services, including voice, data, wireless, and video services,” said FCC Chairman Kevin Martin in a statement.
