Ontario's highest court has reversed a decision awarding more than $340,000 to a Canadian man who said he suffered mental anguish after finding a dead fly in a bottle of water delivered to his home. The plaintiff must also pay $30,000 in costs to Culligan of Canada Ltd. After seeing the fly, the plaintiff reported becoming nauseous and having nightmares for weeks about falling face-first into a ditch full of water. The court noted that doctors had termed the man's reaction "unique and strange."

Ontario’s highest court has overturned a decision awarding more than $340,000 to a Windsor, Ontario, man who claimed he suffered mental anguish after finding a dead fly in a bottle of water delivered to his home.
As a result of the decision by the Ontario Court of Appeal, Waddah (Martin) Mustapha must also pay Culligan of Canada Ltd. $30,000 in court costs, in addition to court costs from the original trial, which have yet to be determined.
