In an outpouring of opposition, New Jersey physicians’ societies are asking a judge to reject a proposed settlement of a class action suit accusing Horizon Blue Cross of abusive reimbursement practices.

The associations, representing thousands of doctors in eight major specialties, say in court papers that the proposed pact is useless because it requires the insurer to do nothing more than obey the law.
