After nearly 25 years of going it alone, San Francisco litigation firm Morgenstein & Jubelirer will combine with Chicago's Schiff Hardin. Morgenstein is known for its top-notch trial lawyers who deliver at lean rates, but the firm's founder said the 35-lawyer boutique was missing out on larger litigation, partly because it may have been seen as a regional firm. Schiff is a 360-attorney firm that has opened offices in New York and Atlanta in the past five years. The merger is effective in January.
