But according to an Altman Weil and LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell survey released last week, it's all talk. The survey found an overall increase in law department spending of 7.9 percent for fiscal year 2005. Consultant James Wilber says the growth was driven mainly by increases in outside legal expenses and in internal hiring. And alternative fee arrangements? Still rarely implemented.
