Deval L. Patrick, the former general counsel of The Coca-Cola Co., is well on his way to a career change: on Tuesday, he won the Democratic primary for governor of Massachusetts.

Patrick captured 50 percent of the votes in the Bay State; his Democratic rivals, venture capitalist Christopher Gabrieli and Massachusetts Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly, received 27 percent and 23 percent of the votes, respectively, according to unofficial results available at press time.
