Federal regulators should block more mergers. That surprisingly frank assessment came from a panel of antitrust experts, asked at an ABA event for their critique on an ongoing review of antitrust law by the congressionally mandated Antitrust Modernization Commission. The panel, which included private firm lawyers, a consumer advocate and an economist, suggested that the AMC take on merger standards that the government uses to block or approve deals.
