G�tz Drauz, a German who headed the European Commission’s Merger Task Force for several years and until recently was its No. 2 competition civil servant, is migrating to the private sector.

Beginning May 15, the man who earned a reputation as one of the world’s leading experts on merger law during his 25 years at the European Union’s executive body will join the Brussels office of Howrey, a Washington law firm, as a partner and as a senior leader of the firm’s antitrust group.
