After a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia announces its verdict, or the trial court decides that the jury is unable to reach a unanimous verdict, Judge Leonie M. Brinkema will either sentence Zacarias Moussaoui to death or to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Once a sentence is imposed, Moussaoui will have the ability to seek appellate review from the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
