Responding to a continuing wave of salary increases at other firms, Hogan & Hartson and Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky have announced they're raising the base pay for first-year associates in their major U.S. offices. Both firms' first-year salaries will go from $125,000 to $135,000. The two firms are also boosting salaries for more experienced associates. "Looking at the national market, we had to maintain competitive levels to attract the best talent," says Hogan's chairman, J. Warren Gorrell Jr.

The move is in response to a wave of increases given to associates at other major firms, including Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, O’Melveny & Myers and Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker.
