Gide Loyrette Nouel has hired its first two American lawyers to staff its New York office, and hopes to add as many as 15 more in the next year. The expansion may seem conservative compared to that of hulking U.S. firms, whose one-stop-shopping mantra has spawned rapid proliferation in European and Asian markets. But the move indicates globalization may be inevitable for firms to stay viable.
