Padilla's Lawyers Push for High Court Review

The case of alleged enemy combatant Jose Padilla is back before the Supreme Court -- about a year earlier than expected. Padilla's lawyers won a victory in February in the federal court in South Carolina, and the government appealed to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals -- but now Padilla's lawyers are asking the high court to take up the case quickly without that intermediate step.

The case of alleged enemy combatant Jose Padilla is back before the Supreme Court — roughly a year earlier than expected.

Padilla is a U.S. citizen who was arrested on a material witness warrant as he arrived in Chicago from Pakistan in May 2002, and he has been imprisoned ever since.
