A government attempt to reduce overtime suits has thrown open the doors for more litigation, say labor attorneys, who claim the 7-month-old laws are roiling the workplace. Many lawyers say the rules make the gray areas of overtime law even grayer, confusing both employees and employers and raising the prospect of legal challenges to a new "duties test," used to determine overtime eligibility. Says one attorney, "The new law is sort of the Anita Hill of the overtime world because it raised awareness."
