Debate on Identity Theft Heats Up in Wake of ChoicePoint Breach

Nearly 145,000 Americans were rendered vulnerable by a breach of the computer databases of ChoicePoint Inc., a leading trafficker in a growing pool of information about who we are, what we own and even where we go. One victim in the attack has already filed a lawsuit seeking class action status. And on Thursday, Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said he would schedule hearings on identity theft and information brokers in the wake of the ChoicePoint fiasco.
