Gray Davis, recalled as governor last year in an election that put former actor and bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger in office, said Wednesday he is returning to the practice of law. Davis, who earned his law degree from Columbia University in 1967 and spent most of his life since then in public service, said he has joined the firm of Loeb & Loeb. “I’m pleased that Loeb & Loeb believes that I will make a contribution to their firm. I intend to do that,” he said. Loeb & Loeb has represented clients ranging from Anheuser-Busch to the Beastie Boys in copyright infringement cases, and represented financial institutions including AIG and UBS. Davis will be involved with clients across the firm’s practice areas, firm co-chairman John Frankenheimer told The Associated Press. “He’ll be working with lots of lawyers in the firm on corporate matters, strategy regarding litigation and regulatory matters,” he said. The former governor insisted he has put politics behind him: “A lot of positive things happened, but that chapter of my life is over.” Copyright 2004 Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.
