Creighton University’s School of Law in Omaha, Neb., is celebrating its 100th anniversary with three major gifts totaling $6 million. The president of the school, the Rev. John Schlegel, said the law firm of McGrath, North, Mullin and Kratz pledged $1 million for an endowed chair in business law. David Hefflinger is president of the firm and a Creighton alumnus. “We hope that this gift provides an impetus to others during the centennial year for the law school,” Hefflinger said. George and Susan Venteicher also pledged $1 million for an endowed scholarship that will support second- and third-year students who have displayed high ethical standards and professionalism. C.L. Werner, Gail Werner-Robertson and the Werner family for pledged $4 million to create the Werner Institute in Alternative Dispute Resolution. Werner-Robertson earned a law degree from Creighton in 1988, and serves on the university’s board of directors. The institute will seek ways to change the process of complaint resolution.
