It wasn’t that long ago that trial consultants could be seen lugging huge 50-inch monitors into courtrooms and counting on the power of prayer to bring up images. The monitors weighed more than I did, so I always had to bring big, burly guys. They also cost about $5,000 apiece (the monitors, not the burly guys). Fortunately, times have changed. Today’s trial presentation systems are portable and affordable. The features across competitive programs are similar. In a lot of ways, it’s just a matter of personal preference, like the classic debate between Ford and Chevy or boxers-or-briefs. Lawyers basically need to do the same things with trial presentation software: annotate images and edit and play video. Lawyers (and consultants) all have their favorite features and pet peeves.
