MaxOptix Corp. has introduced the MaxOptix 8PAC AIT autoloader, a terabyte-capacity, tape storage device. It delivers up to 1040 GB of automated storage capacity and backup performance of up to 56 GB-per-hour using Sony Corp.’s AIT-2 drives (also available with AIT-1 drives). LaCie has unveiled its hot-pluggable DVD-RAM/R drive. It writes and reads 2.6/5.2/4.7/9.4 GB DVD-RAM media, and reads discs currently accepted by CD-ROM, CD Audio, CD-R, CD-RW and video CD drives, as well as DVD-R, DVD-ROM drives. With its two-chip, single framework interface, the combo drive can move between the FireWire ports of Macs and the 1394 ports of PCs with Windows 98 SE/2000. Verbatim Corp. has entered into a licensing agreement with AT&T, under which Verbatim will produce and market a line of AT&T-branded CD-R and CD-RW media. They include 24x CD-R, 4x CD-RW and 10x CD-RW discs. Keyspan announces the Keyspan USB PDA Adapter, which has the ability to hot sync PDA devices at up to 115 Kbps. It supports serial PDAs from Palm, Hewlett Packard, Compaq, Casio, Sharp and now Psion organizers. Also, Keyspan’s High Speed Serial Adapter offers data rates up to 230 Kbps, and is now compatible with a broader range of modems, cameras, PDAs, GPS, cell phones, hand-held scanners and other serial devices. Nexsan Technologies has introduced its InfiniSAN D2D disk-to-disk backup drive, scalable from 160 GB to multipetabytes. It provides immediate online file access and/or allows data retrieval via a LAN, WAN, fibre, copper or Internet connection. The drive is available in rackmount, desktop or Infini-Stack stackable systems. Backup Plus 6.0 can back up to most removable devices, including CD media. It offers restore features from individual files to complete backup listings, timed backup support, network and NT file securities support, desktop and shortcut style backups and more. From AVANTRIX Inc. TamoSoft Inc. has announced CommView 3.0, a network monitor and packet analyzer for Windows. It provides a detailed picture of network traffic to help spot security flaws, LAN bottlenecks and other network problems. The upgrade also includes a multilevel protocol decoder capable of decoding over 20 network protocols, compatibility with Wireless Ethernet adapters, new filters, the ability to exchange data with applications and more.
