The government asked the U.S Supreme Court on Friday to step into its long fight with bankrupt NextWave over the right to offer cellular service in several large U.S. cities. The move preserves the government's options, even though negotiations to end the dispute over NextWave's airwaves were largely completed. Some of the wireless companies could follow with their own requests for Supreme Court review of the case.
