The Miami office of Richmond, Va.-based Hunton & Williams has snatched six prominent corporate attorneys away from Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office. They are Carlos Loumiet, Fernando Alonso, Alberto Hernandez, Roberto Pupo, Enrique Martin and Fernando Margarit, all previous shareholders at Greenberg. Loumiet, who headed Greenberg’s international and banking units, will become co-head of Hunton’s international practice group and also will lead its Florida business practice group. Alonso will co-chair the firm’s Latin American practice team with Loumiet. “We see tremendous synergies between our practice and clients and Hunton’s existing capabilities and clientele,” Loumiet said. “Carlos and Fernando have developed a first-class international corporate group that is multilingual and multicultural,” said Marty Steinberg, managing partner of the Miami office of Hunton & Williams, an 800-attorney firm with 15 offices around the world. Steinberg noted that his new attorneys are skilled in mergers and acquisitions, project finance, capital markets and technology transfers and are well known in Spain and Latin America. Their clients have included major financial institutions, telecommunications and technology companies, and energy firms.
