NEW HIRES Latham & Watkins has hired two former Department of the Interior officials. Bruce Babbit, the former Secretary of the Interior, joins the firm as of counsel. He will focus on environmental and natural resource matters. He received his LL.B. from Harvard University. David J. Hayes, the former Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Interior, rejoins the firm as a partner. He will focus on environmental and natural resource matters. He received his J.D. from Law School in 1978. Jeh Charles Johnson, 43, has rejoined New York’s Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison as a partner in the firm’s litigation department. He was previously the General Counsel of the Air Force. He received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law in 1982. ELECTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS Jeffrey S. Chicago’s Baker & McKenzie has elected Renee S. Schor, 35, partner in its San Diego office.
