KeyCite Notes, available on Westlaw.com, provides access to authoritative references, including cases, administrative materials and analytical sources that cite a particular case and a given point of law. After finding a case on Westlaw.com, researchers click a KeyCite Notes link in the headnote or opinion to view and select from a list of publications that cite a case for a particular legal issue. WestCiteLink 3.0 offers Smart Tag functionality for Microsoft XP users, automatically finding and identifying legal citations. Once a statute or case law citation has been recognized in a document, the software links users to the corresponding document on Westlaw.com. Researchers can now access West Group materials from within DEAL PROOF, linking directly from case law and legal references in their documents to the underlying sources within Westlaw.com. American Lawyer Media Inc., publisher of Law Technology News, has a small equity interest in DEAL PROOF. Delphion Premier and Delphion Unlimited, from Delphion Inc., provide access to major worldwide full-text patent collections; prior art resources and premier patent information databases. Delphion Premier lets users perform searches of top patent databases, while providing access to other functions on a pay-per-use basis. Delphion Unlimited provides the same, plus unlimited use of nearly all features. “How to Use the Internet For Legal, Business & Investigative Research: A Guide for Legal Professionals” is now available from the Internet for Lawyers Web site. In its fourth edition, it features reviews of online legal, business and investigative research resources. Alacra Book is an electronic service that aggregates company-specific information from multiple sources and publishes the information as a single, customized PDF file. Accessible via Internet and/or Intranet; assists attorneys in their preparation of Public Information Books; covers more than 25,000 global public companies. From Alacra Inc. Benefits Essentials 2.0, the online Employment Law and Employee Benefits resource library from vSimplify Inc., features new navigation tools and more content. It covers employee benefits, employment law, personal finance, retirement, and estate planning. North American Deed Co.’s TitleRight helps title companies, lenders, and attorneys prepare deeds and other real estate documents. Users can access the filing, formatting, and fee requirements for more than 3,600 recording jurisdictions in the U.S. Cowles Legal Systems Inc. has released Version 10 of Trust Plus and TrusTerminator software, adding several Web-enabled components. Users can draft checklists, fee agreements, and estate planning worksheets, among other features. The Trust Plus system targets estate-planning practices, helping attorneys educate clients, and draft documents. BNA Books has published its 2001 edition of “Patent, Trademark, and Copyright Laws,” edited by Jeffrey M. Samuels. It includes all statutory changes through March 1, 2001, including all changes to intellectual property law enacted during both sessions of the 106th Congress. The ARM Group has introduced The Contract Tickler Enterprise Version, a client server version of its contract management system, for tracking, managing and accessing any date-sensitive contract or legal document. CCH Inc. has published “Cyberfinance: Raising Capital for the E-Business” by Martin Robins. The book explores tax, financial, and legal considerations for getting and keeping Internet-driven companies up and running. It also examines the resources, processes and techniques, and interpersonal dynamics associated with the raising of capital for e-businesses. SCOUT Solutions Inc., the manufacturer of Aptus contact/client relationship management software, has released Harvest, a practice management application that also functions as an Extranet. The Web-based service will integrate calendaring, project and matter management, contact management, document management, time-and-billing, and more. As an Extranet, the service offers real-time collaboration, says Scout.
