HONORS Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy of counsel Orlan M. Johnson was selected for the Leadership Maryland Class of 2001. Leadership Maryland is an independent, educational, nonprofit organization designed to inform senior-level executives, from both the public and private sectors, about the critical issues and challenges facing the region. Johnson has a background as a power and energy attorney at Milbank and was a Branch Chief at the SEC. New York’s Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison announced it will receive the ABA National Public Service Award for its extraordinary pro bono efforts and partnership with the Business Resource and Investment Service Center (BRISC), a New York-based economic development corporation located in Harlem. Criteria are based on the recipient’s ability, among other things, to demonstrate dedication to the development and delivery of legal services to the poor in a business context though a pro bono program. APPOINTMENTS Chicago’s McDermott, Will & Emery continues to bolster its West Coast IP practice by adding two partners. Joining McDermott’s 16-attorney Menlo Park, Calif., office is Stephen Akerley, who comes from San Francisco IP boutique Townsend and Townsend and Crew. Matthew Weil, a third-year partner, who left Washington-based Howrey, Simon, Arnold & White, has joined McDermott’s Orange County office. New York’s Mayer, Brown & Platt named the following lawyers of counsel: Francis R. Bradley, III concentrates his practice in the areas of finance and natural resource law. He received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1992. Kevin A. Corbett concentrates his practice in real estate. He received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1980. Sharon De Vault concentrates her practice in the area of wealth management. She received her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1990. Julian P. Gehman concentrates his practice in the area of information technology and telecommunications. He received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1992. Richard D. Greta concentrates his practice in the area of corporate securities and finance. He received his J.D. from University of California-Los Angeles School of Law in 1991. Daniel G. Hildebrand concentrates his practice in the area of general commercial and appellate litigation, with an emphasis on constitutional and jurisdictional problems, accounting and securities fraud defense, and complex breach of contract matters. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School in 1992. Adam K. Hollander concentrates his practice in the area of complex civil litigation with an emphasis on insurance and reinsurance coverage disputes. He received his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1992. Thomas A. Lidbury concentrates his practice in trial litigation, insurance and health care law. He received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1992. C. Dirk Peterson concentrates his practice in corporate and securities work. He received his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1990. Vytas A. Petrulis concentrates his practice in the area of real estate law. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School in 1992. Wayne L. Tang concentrates his practice in the area of intellectual property. He received his J.D. from Michigan Law School in 1991.
