Miami law firm Adorno & Zeder is acquiring six-lawyer Bakst Bakst & Koenig, a West Palm Beach, Fla., firm that specializes in bankruptcy and commercial litigation. Daniel L. Bakst, Michael R. Bakst and John M. Koenig Jr. and their three associates become Adorno’s Palm Beach County office on April 2. “The only thing I’m losing is my name,” Daniel Bakst said Wednesday. He said Adorno & Zeder wants to build the Palm Beach County operation to 20 lawyers within a year. Adorno will have a total of 89 lawyers after the Bakst merger. For 35 years, Daniel Bakst has specialized in bankruptcy law and related matters, creditors rights, debt restructuring and workouts. His firm has represented domestic and foreign banks and other financial institutions, publicly traded and Fortune 500 companies, and pension funds. Bakst Bakst & Koenig has represented creditors, trustees, debtors, court-appointed committees and secured creditors. “This transaction not only strengthens our bankruptcy practice but also gives us a significant foundation from which to build a full-service firm in West Palm Beach,” said Henry Adorno, Adorno & Zeder’s chief executive. Bakst Bakst & Koenig associates Alan R. Crane, Philip B. Harris and Joseph R. Miele Jr. will also join Adorno and Zeder.
