Rising: Electronic Poaching When CBS realized that anchorman Dan Rather would be broadcasting the famous Times Square ball drop from a location that would show the NBC logo, they used digital technology to make it appear to viewers that the building had a giant CBS logo. Earlier this month, Atlanta-based OTS Signs LP, the owner of One Times Square, filed suit in federal court in New York alleging that CBS engaged in unfair competition, deceptive trade practices and trespass. The attorney representing QTS says CBS is guilty of an “ethical lapse” in its news coverage. Ethical lapse and deceptive advertising? Sounds like a political campaign.
