Minneapolis’ General Mills Inc. has hired New York’s Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz as primary counsel, and Washington, D.C.’s Collier Shannon Scott P.L.L.C. as antitrust counsel, for its $10.5 billion proposed purchase of the Pillsbury unit of London-based Diageo P.L.C. New York’s Sullivan & Cromwell is primary counsel for Diageo; London’s Slaughter & May is U.K. counsel. The attorneys at Wachtell are partners Steven A. Rosenblum, Eric S. Robinson, Peter C. Canellos and Michael S. Katzke; and associates Nancy B. Greenbaum, Deborah L. Paul, Igor Kirman, Judy B. Tuchin, Bruce Goldberger and Ido Zemach. The Collier Shannon attorneys are partner William MacLeod and associates Garrett Duarte, Jean Mohler and Victoria Lippincott. General Mills has also hired Ivy Bernhardson, a partner at Minneapolis’ Leonard, Street and Deinard P.A., for the transaction. The in-house General Mills attorneys are Siri S. Marshall, senior vice president for corporate affairs and general counsel; Elizabeth Wittenberg, assistant general counsel; Janice Marturano, vice president and associate general counsel; Gregory Kaihoi, chief trademark counsel; and Douglas Taylor, chief patent counsel and assistant general counsel. The Sullivan & Cromwell attorneys are partners Neil Anderson, Richard Morrissey and Theodore Edelman, in London, and Francis Aquila and Ronald Creamer, in New York; and associates, all in New York, Audra Cohen, Craig Joffe, Tiffany Yonker, Darren Wallis and Laurance Cook. Stephen Cooke is the lead Slaughter & May attorney, and Timothy Proctor is Diageo’s general counsel.
