NEW HIRES Mark D. Bowen and David P. Lhota, former partners in Pompano Beach, Fla.’s Bowen & Lhota, have joined Miami’s Stearns Wevaer Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson as shareholders and co-chairs of the firm’s intellectual property department in Fort Lauderdale. Bowen, 37, received his J.D. from the University of Miami in 1994. Lhota, 35, also received his J.D. from the University of Miami in 1994. Veronica G. Kayne has joined Washington, D.C.’s Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering as a partner, where she will practice in the antitrust and competition law practice. She was previously the Assistant Director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition Anticompetitive Practices Division. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Villanova University School of Law in 1981. Seattle’s Perkins Coie has hired Clemens H. Barnes as a partner in the firm’s labor and employment group. He was previously a partner with Seattle’s Lane Powell Speaks Lubersky. He received his J.D. from the University of Washington in 1969. Ira M. Feinberg has joined Washington, D.C.’s Hogan & Hartson as a partner in the New York office’s litigation group. He was previously the Chief Appellate Attorney for the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of New York. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1972. Washington, D.C.’s Piper Marbury Rudnick & Wolfe has hired Martin Dajani as of Counsel. He specializes in antitrust and trade regulation. He was previously a lawyer in the Bureau of Competition Anticompetitive Practices Division of the Federal Trade Commission. He received his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Akron, Ohio’s Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs has hired Clay K. Keller as an associate in the real estate and construction practice group. He graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 2000. BIG HIRES Brussels’ Linklaters & Alliance has hired five attorneys to the firm’s Madrid office. �lvaro Sainz and Alejandro Ortiz join the firm as partners from Garrigues Andersen, also in Madrid. Sainz, a graduate of the University of Madrid, will help to develop and practice in the firm’s corporate group. Ortiz will focus his practice on finance and securities. Javier Fern�ndez-Samaniego joins the firm as a senior associate from Cuatrecasas. He will practice in the e-commerce and IT group. Luis Peinado, who joins the firm from Ernst & Young, is also a senior associate. He will head the firm’s employment law practice. Gonzalo Lopez joins the firm as a senior associate in the corporate group. He was previously with Castro, Sueiro y Valera. Los Angeles’ Latham & Watkins has hired four senior associates in its Singapore office. John MacKay focuses on banking and corporate law. He was also an associate in Allen & Overy’s Singapore office. He received his LL.B. from the University of British Columbia in 1994. Harnek Shoker joins the firm from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London and practices in the finance department. He received his LL.M. from the University of London in 1994 and his LL.B. from Brunel University of West London in 1992. Scott Calver focuses on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.
