Not long ago, Kozo Mizutani got trademark registration for a profession unknown in America.

Mizutani, president of Tokyo’s IP Information Co. Ltd., registered the term “legal engineer” in Japan. He says that the new line of work will help reverse Japan’s current export decline. His plan is for engineers from mature Japanese smokestack industries to begin working with companies to “create new knowledge through data or information mining.”
