As the dark of winter starts to recede and you begin to assemble your financial information in preparation for tax filing, take some time to look carefully at your investments. Sure, “the market” surged. But knowing whether you were “up” or “down” doesn’t tell you how you performed. Honest. It is not good enough- no matter what you think. Shockingly, brokerage statements don’t tell you how your investments performed. Neither do mutual fund statements. So how can you know how you really did?
