In Hollywood, a Love match isn’t played with tennis rackets. For musical artist and actress Courtney Love, that game is won with briefcases.

Composer and lead singer for the band Hole, Love — who has repeatedly scored in business disputes by unleashing an army of entertainment lawyers — has found herself on the receiving end of a blistering backhand by Geffen Records. When Love vowed to leave the label last month, before her recording contract was over, the label swiftly countered with a suit in Los Angeles Superior Court against her and bandmate Eric Erlandson.
