A model law governing licensing of information over the Internet -- the Uniform Computer Information Transactions Act (UCITA) -- cleared the Virginia Legislature. The controversial measure is intended to provide a uniform law for software and other computer information contracts and has been introduced in Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland and Oklahoma.
