The American Bar Association House of Delegates narrowly approved a proposal that would ban lawyer contributions to judicial campaigns in exchange for governmental appointments. Delegates adopted the so-called "pay to play" resolution by a vote of 256 to 157. Supporters said the adoption of the issue Monday would prevent the appearance of impropriety on an issue that has received the attention of the national press and the SEC.
