Attorneys at Cooley Godward helped Emeryville’s Ask Jeeves Inc. acquire Direct Hit Technologies Inc. last week in a deal valued at $507 million.

Ask Jeeves, a search engine that allows users to pose “natural language” questions, exchanged 5.12 million shares of stock for the Wellesley, Mass., company, which tracks and organizes content based on a Web site’s popularity with a user.
