An Alabama man succeeded in getting his Fulton County divorce last year — despite the fact he had been dead five months.

A visiting judge signed the final judgment and decree July 13 granting Harvey Enloe a divorce from his wife of 37 years. But Superior Court Judge Brooks E. Blitch III of the Alapaha Circuit made the divorce effective on an earlier date — dating it nunc pro tunc to Jan. 28, 1999, since the 61-year-old Enloe died in an apartment fire in Foley, Ala., last Feb. 19.
