The tragic murder of an 8-year-old witness and his mother in Bridgeport last year may pit state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal against his highest-profile opponent yet: former O.J. Simpson lawyer Johnnie L. Cochran Jr.

On Dec. 6, Cochran gave five state agencies, including Blumenthal’s office, formal notice of his intention to commence legal action against the state on behalf of the family of Leroy “B.J.” Brown Jr., and Brown’s mother, Karen Clarke.
